Worldly
Attire
I direct your attention to the following presentation of biblical
truth: "abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the
soul" I Pet. 2:11.... "love not the world" I
Jn 2:15.... "have no fellowship with the unfruitful works
of darkness but rather reprove them" Eph. 5:11.... "be
not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind" Rom. 12:2.... "abstain from every form
of evil" I Thess 5:22 (ASV).... "that women adorn
themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety" I
Tim. 2:9.... "whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after
her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart" Mt.
5:28.
From the passages cited certain things are very clear (to
anyone that is honest). Christians should "abstain" (to
hold oneself from) all evil and fleshly lusts that war against
the soul. The wearing of low-cut blouses, short-shorts, tight
pants and shirts, modern swimwear, and halter tops are in violation
of every principle set out in these verses. the modern "mixed
swimming" scene (beaches, public pools, and now at some
of my brethren's homes) is clearly in opposition to plain
Bible teaching. When people dress in such a way that draws
sexual
attention to themselves, they are immodestly dressed! Parents
will answer in the day of judgment for the way they let their
children dress (Eph. 6:1-4). Start early. If you wait until
your children are in high school, you will find it extremely
difficult to get them to reject the worldly standard of revealing,
immodest, and sexually alluring clothing.
Brethren, be honest with yourselves and God.
