Three Areas of Christian Living
When one believes, repents, confesses faith and is baptized
for the remission of sins, the Christian life begins (Mark
16:16; Acts 2:38; 22:16; Rom. 10:9-10).
Obeying the gospel is the condition of becoming a Christian. The condition
of going to heaven is a faithful, godly, Christian life. There are basically
three aspects of faithful Christian living.
Daily Righteousness
Jesus said that we must follow him "daily" (Luke
9:23). The apostle John declared, "if we walk in the light,
as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and
the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin," (I
John 1:7). the Christian life is the "abundant" life
(John 10:10), but it must be lived daily.
Faithful Attendance
When the local church assembles, God commands his people to
be present:
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;
(for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another
to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling
of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting
one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
(Hebrews 10:23-25).
Lack of faithful attendance indicates a lack of love for God
on our part. If we love the Lord, we will keep his commands (I
John 5:3). We are commanded to assemble (Hebrews 10:25). Therefore,
if we love as we should, we will assemble together with the saints
when they meet.
Diligent Work
The church is the Lord's "vineyard" and a vineyard
has "laborers" (Matt. 20:1). We should "be ready
to every good work," (Titus 3:1).
Let us be faithful to
God here so we will be prepared to serve him eternally in heaven; "and his servants shall serve him" (Revelation
22:3).
