Self-Examination

Have you ever taken the time to examine yourself spiritually? Self-examination is something we do not like to do. Yet, it is something that must be done, since it is essential to our growth spiritually.

God wants us to grow (II Peter 3:18). He demands we add the "Christian Graces" to our life (II Peter 1:5-11). So as we examine our lives, we can determine what is needed and make the necessary corrections.

The statements below might give you some insight to your spiritual condition. Answer with a yes or no!

___ 1. I am concerned about the lost (Matt. 28:18-20).

___ 2. I am concerned about the spiritual well-being of other Christians (Gal. 6:1-2; James 5:19-20).

___ 3. I am concerned about the physical needs of others (Gal. 6:10; James 1:27).

___ 4. I really try to treat others as I would want them to treat me (Matt. 7:12).

___ 5. I really try to refrain from speaking evil of others (Eph. 4:29).

___ 6. I really try to follow after the example of Christ (I Peter 2:21).

___ 7. I really do love the Lord (Matt. 22:37).

___ 8. I really try to put Christ and the church first in my life (Matt. 6:33).

___ 9. I am more concerned about spiritual things than the things of this world (Col. 3:1-3).

___ 10. I study the Bible every day (II Tim. 2:15).

___ 11. I pray every day (I Thess. 5:17).

___ 12. I give as God has prospered me (I Cor. 16:2).

___ 13. I really enjoy serving the Lord (I Cor. 15:58).

___ 14. I really enjoy worshipping God (Ps. 122:1).

___ 15. I attend every service I am able to attend (Heb. 10:25)

___ 16. I can be counted on to teach ONLY what the Bible says (II John 9-11).

___ 17. I can be counted on to do whatever I can to help this congregation to grow (I Cor. 15:58).
