Proverbs
For Youth To Ponder
Solomon is the primary author of the Book of Proverbs. This
book is categorized in the wisdom literature of the Old Testament.
This time of the year thousands of young people are graduating
and making plans and decisions that will affect them the rest
of their lives. They should take heed to divine wisdom by considering
the following proverbs:
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of
knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction" Proverbs 1:7. To fear the Lord is to respect Him and His word. Young people
should start early putting the Lord first and respecting
His way.
"...if sinners entice thee, consent thou
not" Proverbs
1:10. This will happen. You will be enticed. Plan and prepare
ahead to take a stand against sin.
"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out
of it are the issues of life" Proverbs 4:23. What is on the inside
eventually comes out.
"...the way of transgressors is hard" Proverbs 13:15.
Nobody gets away with sin. We reap what we sow in this life
and eternally.
"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty
spirit before a fall" Proverbs 16:18. Endeavor to keep a humble
spirit.
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue" Proverbs
18:21. Think before you speak.
"A good name is rather to be chosen than
great riches" Proverbs
22:1. A good reputation is earned and can be easily lost.
"Be not among winebibbers" Proverbs 23:20. Never
take the first drink.
"Buy the truth and sell it not" Proverbs 23:23.
Never compromise God's truth.
We wish our graduates the best and pray God's richest blessings
upon them.
