Perverted
Grace
"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you
of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto
you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the
faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are
certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained
to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our
God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and
our Lord Jesus Christ." Jude 3-4
The above passage clearly indicates that even in the first
century God's amazing grace was being perverted. Perversion
of grace continues yet today.
1.) It is perversion of grace to teach that you cannot fall
from grace (Heb. 12:15; II Pet. 3:17; I Cor. 10:12; Gal. 5:4;
II Pet. 2:20-22).
2.) It is perversion of grace to teach that we are saved by
grace alone. If this were true all would be saved. This the
word of God clearly denies (Titus 2:11; Heb. 2:9; Matt. 7:13-14;
II Cor. 6:1). We must respond in the proper positive way to
God's grace (Acts 2:38-41; Matt. 7:21; Rom. 6:16-17).
3.) It is perversion of grace to teach that we are under grace
and there is no law whatsoever. The books of Romans and Galatians
exclude the law of Moses not the law of Christ (Rom. 6:14;
7:4; 8:2; FL. 5:18; 6:2). We are under the law of Christ today
(I Cor. 9:21).
"Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God
forbid." (Rom. 6:1-2)
